The Formula

on the 23rd of July 2024, Rooted Rising Initiative, in collaboration with Media Awareness and Justice Initiative (MAJI) and LINCGREEN CLIMATE CHANGE INITATIVE, hosted a learning session focused on one skill many young organizations need but often struggle with: technical writing.

The session, facilitated by Mr. Onyekachi Okoro, the executive director of the Media Awareness and Justice Initiative, took participants through the nitty-gritty of writing and communicating projects more clearly. What made the session particularly engaging was his use of past work and real examples from his own experience to explain the things that can often feel complicated on paper.

For many of us working in the social impact space, this was a chance to look at writing differently—not just as putting words together, but as a way of making people understand our ideas, our work, and why they matter.

It was a valuable learning experience, especially for young organizations still finding their voice and figuring out how to communicate their work better.

We are grateful to MAJI and LINCgreen for collaborating with Rooted Rising Initiative to make the session possible. We look forward to more spaces where young organizations can learn, grow and sharpen the skills needed to do better work.
