African Feminist Forum

In August 2026, Rooted Rising Initiative participated in the African Feminist Forum (AFF) in Namibia, joining feminists and movement builders from across Africa to learn, reflect, organize, and imagine more just and equal futures.

The Forum, marking 20 years of African feminist organizing, offered a powerful opportunity to reflect on the histories of our movements, the importance of documenting and preserving feminist knowledge, and the need to better understand the systems of power we seek to transform.

For Rooted Rising Initiative, the experience reinforced our commitment to grassroots organizing, feminist storytelling, intergenerational knowledge-sharing, and building stronger networks for environmental and social justice.

We returned inspired to deepen our work with communities, document their stories, and continue creating spaces where young people—especially young women—can learn, organise, and take up space.

We are grateful to everyone that made this participation possible and to the African feminist movement for creating a space for collective learning, reflection, and imagination.
